What is the Ribcage?

Shaped by Operators.

RIBCAGE started with a simple idea from a working camera operator:
handheld shouldn’t hurt this much.

From there, it was properly refined by engineers who understand load paths, balance and materials.

The result is a handheld camera support system that doesn’t fight you, slow you down, or turn into a gimmick... it just works!

RIBCAGE shifts the camera’s centre of gravity away from your arms and into your hips and torso, letting your body do what it’s naturally good at: carrying weight efficiently.

Why It Exists

Modern camera builds are heavy and front-loaded.

With todays fully rigged cinema cameras, handheld becomes a battle of endurance rather than control.

Arms fatigue.
Posture collapses.
Shots suffer.

How RIBCAGE Solves It

RIBCAGE redistributes load by linking the camera, hands, arms, and torso, creating a stable support structure that reduces strain and improves balance.

Instead of muscling the camera all day, the weight is shared across your body’s strongest areas, allowing you to operate longer with better control and consistency.

It’s not about locking you into a rigid system, it’s about support without restriction.

Designed for Real Shooting Environments

-Compact & Practical:
Approximately 600 mm (2 ft) wide, allowing RIBCAGE to pass easily through standard doorways and work in tight locations.

-Lightweight:
Around 2.5 kg including pads (depending on size and shape of pads), adding meaningful support without unnecessary mass.

-Quick-Change Padding System:
Supplied with one set of magnetically mounted pads for fast fitting, removal, and replacement.

-Comfort Where It Counts:
The system is designed to sit naturally on the body, supporting the camera without digging in or limiting movement.

Built to Be Used, Not Babied

RIBCAGE is for long days, real locations, and operators who need support that feels intuitive, not something that constantly needs adjusting or thinking about.

No theatrics.
No over-complication.
Just solid engineering in service of better handheld work.
