Accuracy, shrinkage & finish
Parts are printed in Nylon 12 (PA12) by selective laser sintering. The process involves thermal shrinkage, which we compensate for during printing. Typical dimensional accuracy is ±0.3%, with a lower limit of about ±0.3 mm on small features. Surfaces have a fine matte, slightly grainy SLS texture as standard. For tight-tolerance fits, threads or mating features, flag the critical dimensions when you order — these may need to be reamed, tapped or post-machined to size. Quoted prices are for as-printed parts.

About Nylon 12 (PA12)

Nylon 12 is the benchmark material for selective laser sintering — and for good reason. It produces strong, lightweight, functional parts with good surface finish straight off the printer. It handles threads, snap fits and living hinges well, resists oils, fuels and most solvents, and maintains its dimensions over time. These aren't display models — they're end-use parts built to perform.

We print on a Formlabs Fuse 1+ 30W, the same machine used by professional engineering teams across aerospace, automotive and film production. Every build is run in-house at our UK studio, so there are no overseas shipping delays, no import headaches, and someone who actually knows the parts answering your questions.

Typical dimensional accuracy is ±0.3% with a lower limit of ±0.3mm on small features. Parts come with a fine matte SLS finish as standard. Tight-tolerance fits, threads or mating features may need post-machining — flag these when you request your quote and we'll advise.

Frequently Asked Questions

What file format do you need?

STL files only for now, exported in millimetres. If your CAD package exports in inches or another unit, convert to mm before uploading or your quote will be wrong.

What's the maximum part size?

165 × 165 × 300mm. If your part exceeds any of these dimensions in any orientation, the tool will flag it as unprintable.

Is there a minimum order?

No minimum quantity — you can order a single part. There is a minimum order value of £20 to cover setup and handling.

How does the pricing work?

The instant quote is a maximum price based on worst-case geometry. Your final invoice is often lower once we've nested your actual parts in our slicing software. We'll confirm the final price before you pay.

How do I pay?

Once you submit your quote request we'll review your files, confirm the final price, and send you an invoice. You pay securely through Shopify — card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

How long does it take?

1–2 working days once printing starts. We'll confirm a start date when we send your invoice. For urgent orders, get in touch before submitting and we'll do our best.

Can I order in STEP or other CAD formats?

Not yet — STL only for now. STEP support is coming. In the meantime, export an STL from your CAD package at high resolution (0.01mm deviation or better).

What finish do parts come in?

Natural grey matte SLS finish as standard. If you need a specific finish — dyeing, smoothing, painting — mention it in your quote request and we'll quote separately.

My part has tight tolerances or threads — will it print accurately?

Typical accuracy is ±0.3% (±0.3mm on small features). For threaded holes, we recommend designing to standard tap drill sizes and finishing with a tap after printing. For tight press-fit or bearing bores, allow 0.2–0.3mm clearance and ream to final size. Flag critical dimensions in your quote request.

I need more than one different part — can I order them together?

Yes — the quote tool accepts multiple STL files in one order. Add each part, set quantities, and request a single quote. We'll nest everything together where possible, which can reduce your cost compared to separate orders.
